Name of material

3D Cement Clone Wood

Chemical Name

Combination of Calcium, Silicone, Aluminum, Iron and Others

General Description

Green Rider 3D cement clone wood is relief news to all nature lovers, not a single tree is needed to cut down anymore, yet the material resembles the aesthetics of real wood. 3D cement clone wood is made of high-grade cement and using a unique 3D cloning wood technology and applying a burning desire to think innovative and differently, Green Rider Technology creates a modern “green” material to replace natural wood that enhance the more natural liveable, environmentally friendly and healthy living environment and space.

General Properties

-Hardness

-Cannot be digested by termites

-Durable

-Protected against water and liquids

-Non-toxic and safe to use

-Eco-friendly

Opportunities

Compared to natural wood, 3D Cement Clone Wood is a better material for products design as it is protected against water and liquids, meaning user would not have to worry about water damage. Also, this material is protected against termites as it will not be digested by termites, giving the product a longer shelf life. This material offers functional and environmental benefits alongside great shelf presence. Consider using 3D Cement Clone Wood for applications that require building purposes in a more aesthetic way while remaining environmentally friendly.

Discuss among the group how this material can be used as a direct replacement to a material in an existing product without any significant changes in the design

3D cement clone wood is originally grey in colour, but it can be dyed unto any colour during the manufacturing process. The surface shows light colour variation, hence, enhances natural aesthetic. This can be applied to house furniture or floor materials, as such it resembles wood instead of cement. All that is needed to do is to replace wood with this 3D cement clone wood without a need to make any changes to the furniture design. Apart from having the aesthetic appeal, the 3D cement clone wood is also as hard as cement, it will not break or get chipped off when in use unlike wood. Moreover, it cannot be digested by termites and protected against water and liquids, which is an important factor when compared to wood as these are the main problem when woods are being used. No trees also are needed to be cut down, thus making it eco-friendly, hence these are the reasons why this material can replace wood, mainly for the material properties without affecting the product’s design and functions.

Discuss among the group how this material can be used to enhance the functionality of an existing product through some changes in the design.

The existing traditional wooden furniture is subjected to natural forces of decay which is also known as rottingMoreover, wood is flammable as it has an ignition temperature between 200°C to 400°CThe 3D cement clone wood on the other hand, does not decay and is not flammable. Thus, it is safer and can last longer than wood.

Since the 3D cement clone wood is a lot denser than wood, it could be designed in a way to reduce its weight so that is easier to move. A ‘waffle’ design could be used, it has pockets of holes shaped like a waffle which will reduce the weight of the furniture. It also looks aesthetically pleasing. Another use for the 3D cement clone wood is floorings and interiors, and it could be wrapped on walls and round columns. This will protect the walls and round columns from water and other liquidsMoreover, it is non-toxic and durable, so it can be used for a long-term alternative. Its property of not being able to decay or infested by termites, yet looks exactly like wood, is very important for using it on floorings and interiors because thinner sheets are used.
